Damp Proof Plywood Can Help You Save Money On Home Maintenance Every year

Home owners know the kind of menace dampness can cause. And what’s even worse is that many a time, you are unable to find a reason for the dampness. Wooden furniture fare the worst when the air in your home is consistently damp. Long term exposure to moisture can rot them to the core, destroying them way earlier than their expected lifespan. Can damp proof plywood be the solution for this dilemma? We say, yes.

Use damp proof plywood in your kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Bathroom and kitchen are two places with the highest amount of moisture in your home. Use Boiling Water Resistant (BWR) grade plywood to build kitchen & bathroom  cabinets, tables, and chairs so that they last for a long time to come. Give them a coat of waterproof paint to make them last even longer. The internal structure of the ply and the paint layer will together repel moisture and help you save a lot of money on furniture repairs in the coming years.

Damp proof plywood does not mean marine plywood, though

One thing you need to understand is that damp proof plywood is merely Boiling Water Resistant (BWR) grade plywood. Marine grade plywood, which your carpenter might have asked you to buy for your new furniture – is something so water resistant that it can be used to build boats. While that sounds great, consider the fact that waterproof plywood prices are also considerably higher than damp proof ply and for all practical purposes, using the former is nothing short of overkill.
